Petrol, diesel to cost more (Go To Top)

          NEW DELHI: Petrol and diesel prices have been raised by 25 paise throughout the country with immediate effect. In Delhi petrol will cost Rs 29.18 per litre and diesel Rs 18.23, in Mumbai Rs 33.72 and Rs 23.14, in Kolkata Rs 29.63 and Rs18.61 and in Chennai Rs 31.30 and Rs 19.88, respectively.

SEBI suspends CSFB (Go To Top)

          MUMBAI: The Securities and Exchange Board of India has suspended the registration of Credit Suisse First Boston (India) Securities Pvt Ltd (CSFB) as a broker for two years from April 18, 2002 for manipulating the stock market. Investigations, conducted into various transactions during January 2001 to March 2001, found violations of SEBI rules and fraudulent and unfair trade practices by the broker.

Wipro, Infosys on IT-100 list (Go To Top)

          NEW DELHI: Wipro and Infosys have been placed on the Business Week magazine's IT-100 list for year 2002. Infosys got 71st place and Wipro 98th. The assessment was based on share-holder return, equity return, revenue growth etc. Korean Samsung Electronics took the top position in the list. Microsoft was in the 27th position, Oracle 53rd, Intel 56th and Hewlett-Packard 99th.

Review of PSUs' Navratna status likely (Go To Top)

          NEW DELHI: The Government has decided to review the Navratna status of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), according to minister Suresh Prabhu. Some of the existing Navratnas may lose their status due to continued losses.           NEW DELHI: The German car manufacturer Volkswagen is finalising models it plans to introduce in the India market, according to press reports. The company is planning a manufacturing unit in Rajasthan. The models likely to be manufactured are Polo, Golf and GOL.
