Sushil Kumar wins Gold medal at World Wrestling Championship in Moscow
New Delhi:Wrestler Sushil Kumar rewrote the history books once again as he became the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal in the World Wrestling Championship on Sunday in Moscow by
beating Russia's Gogaev Alan in the final match. He had earlier assured atleast a silver
medal by defeating Hasanov Jabrayil of Azerbaijan in the semifinal. The final
bout was decided 3-1 in the favor of the Indian wrestler. He had earlier done
the country proud by winning a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and with
this win, starts as a favourite at home to clinch a gold in the Commonwealth Games,
a private channel report stated on Sunday evening. Born May 26, 1983 , Sushil
won the bronze medal in the Men's 66kg Freestyle Wrestling event at the 2008
Beijing
Olympics.Kumar defeated Leonid Spiridonov of Kazakhstan in the repechage round
to win the bronze.
