Lucknow: A least 12 people were injured when the engine and a bogie of the Kasganj-Lucknow Rohilkhand Express derailed near Kasganj railway station early Friday. The train derailed at 5:30 am while passing through a culvert near Kasganj in
Kanshi Ram Nagar district. The derailed engine fell off the tracks into a deep pool of
floodwater. According to reports the driver of the train has been injured while the co
driver managed to escape the accident. An assistant driver is reported missing.
A relief train was pressed into service. The passengers of Rohilkhand Express were
sent back to Kasganj through chartered buses. The repair of the track continued.
Many trains on the route were changed or cancelled on Friday. Some of the trains
will remain affected on Saturday also. On Friday, 5311/5312 Kasganj-Lalkuan
Kumaon Express, 132 Lalkuan-Kasganj Passenger (Dn), 147 Kasganj-Bareilly
Passenger (Up), 5309 Rohilkhand Express between Ujhani-Aishbagh, 5310
Rohilkhand Express between Bareilly-Kasganj and 5316 Kasganj-Gonda Gokul
Express between Kasganj-Ujhani were cancelled. Besides, several passenger trains
were also affected. Some trains will remain cancelled on Saturday: 5311/5312
Kumaon Express (Kasganj-Lalkuan-Kasganj), 131/132 Kasganj-Lalkuan-Kasganj,
5309/5310 Kasganj-Aishbagh-Kasganj Express, 5315/5316
Gonda-Kasganj-Gonda Gokul Express. Several passenger trains like 147/148
Kasganj-Bareilly-Kasganj passenger will also remain affected. The train will remain
cancelled between Kasganj-Ujhani-Kasganj, 137/138 Kasganj-Pilibhit-Kasganj
passenger will remain cancelled between Badaun-Kasganj-Badaun, 135/136
Kasganj-Pilibhit-Kasganj passenger will remain cancelled Kasganj-Ujhani-Kasganj
and 133/134 Kasganj-Tanakpur-Kasganj passenger will remain cancelled
Kasganj-Ujhani-Kasganj.
