Sri Lankan player under ICC anti-corruption unit spotlight
London:The International Cricket Council (ICC)’s anti-corruption unit has reportedly been monitoring the activities of a leading Sri Lankan player since the Twenty20 World Cup in England last year. It is believed that the player was singled out after his Sri Lankan team-mates became increasingly unsettled by his late-night meetings with a man they believed to be an illegal bookmaker, The Guardian reports. According to reports, the players has passed on their concerns to captain Kumar Sangakkara, who followed ICC protocol by contacting the anti-corruption unit. Sri Lankan police has since investigated the player, although no charges have been laid.
