Devotees throng Parashuram fair in Rajasthan

Jodhpur: Hundreds and thousands of devotees from all over the country took part in a fair honouring saint Parashuram in Jodhpur. Situated atop Aravali hills in Desuri area, Parashuram Mahadev Temple is the only temple devoted to the saint, known as an avid devout of Hindu God Shiva. Every year, during August-September a huge fair is held in his memory, when pilgrims trek an ardous 13-kilometre stretch to reach the temple. "It felt really nice to be here. The place where Lord Parashuram had done great penances and just being here has filled my heart with great peace and devotion," said Vir Kumar Jain, a devotee from Jaipur. The entire stretch leading to the shrine is dotted with small shops selling accessories, decorative items and household items. The congregation at the Parashuram Mahadev fair is said to be the second biggest in the state, after the annual desert festival.
