Last
night of Pushkar fair enthralls audience
Pushkar
(Rajasthan): The last night of Pushkar saw a variety
of cultural and folk musical programmes that enthralled
both domestic and foreign tourists. The glittering
lights in the lawns of tourist village area in Pushkar
were a major attraction for foreigners. The tourists
used to come out of their hotel rooms to roam around
this place during late nights. "It was a thrilling
experience. It was nice to be here. I think we missed
it all this while when we didn't come for so many
years," said Dr Signhvi, a tourist. For most of the
foreign tourists, walking in Pushkar during night
was a great experience. "It's vibrant and every bit
of it is exciting. It never seems to go to sleep.
All the lights show up more beautifully at night.
The temples look more beautiful and the environment
is just full of life," said Allen, a foreign tourist.
"I find Pushkar fascinating at night. This evening
we watched the sunset over here, sun going down in
the west with camels in the foreground. In the east,
we had the mooon. I love the way all the people congregate
in the evenings and sit around the fire and talk to
each other," said Suzi, another tourist. The open
auditorium in Pushkar village echoed with the sounds
of audience clapping of visitors, where Rajasthan's
famous artist Gulabo presented a fusion of French
and Indian music. A 22-year- old foreign student of
her's, named Maria danced along with her besides singing
the Rajasthani folk songs. "I had a great experience
in dancing and singing with Gulabo. It's important
for me to dance with her," said Maria. Maria was fascinated
by Indian music since the age of 10 and since then
there has been no looking back. Now Maria dreams to
learn more about Indian classical music and dance.
