Herbal sweets for health conscious people

Lucknow: If you have got a sweet tooth and come back disappointed every time you visit a sweet shop, a sweet maker in Lucknow now has a remedy for your cravings! Cashing in on the emerging trend of health consciousness among the public, the products sold by the shop are made of ingredients like papaya and other herbal products having a medicinal value. There are sweets made out of Ayurvedic products that can act as rejuvenators, toners, digestive agents and can also help out those having acidity problems. Fresh, soft, munchy, the sweets displayed in the shop are quite tempting as they range from delicious sweets made out of fruits to pointed gourd and spinach. "Those things which are good for health like fenugreek, spinach and cardamom, we started making sweets out of them so that they are tasty and healthy too. They don't taste bitter like medicines and are healthy," said Suman Bihari, owner of the shop. The shop also boasts of sugar free varieties that can satisfy the taste buds without causing any harm to diabetic patients. A.K. Maurya, a local and a frequent visitor to the shop, said the sweets not only taste good but are healthy too, unlike normal sweets. "Generally people have sweets because of the taste and moreover they cause damage to your health. But these sweets are not only tasty, they have medicinal value too. You can make your health by having these sweets," Maurya said. Though priced higher than normal sweets, people can be seen flocking the shop to grab a few pieces and carry back kilos of them for family members and friends. While some of the mouth-watering sweets cost 140 rupees per kg, others are priced as high as 1600 rupees a kilo.
